Experience

I have over 20 years of experience in software engineering and systems architecture, primarily relating to logistics and e-commerce. I have worked in both small and large organizations, with experience of start-up, rapid growth and corporate stages and an understanding of the different challenges in each.

For the last 15 years I have been working at The Hut Group. I was one of the first technical employees of the embryonic company. I designed, built and migrated from the existing outsourced e-commerce website to an internally managed open-source based platform. This new platform was a key part of the company’s strategy to experiment in new markets and grow from a small Cheshire-based entertainment retailer to a multi-billion-pound international business trading in beauty, health and technology products.

I have a special interest in leveraging cloud and open source technologies to automate development processes, and automating infrastructure creation and management.

• Experience using AWS and supporting DevOps teams using AWS.
